Black Rat

Description:

The Black rat is a rodent with bodies measuring between 19 cm and 25 cm and weighing between 150 to 250 grams. The body is covered with hair from gray to dark gray above and pale gray below. Its tail is between 19 cm and 25 cm, its snout is pointed and ears are large.

Food:

The Black rat is a rodent omnivorous, they eat almost anything, but prefer meat, fish, cereals (grain).

Habits:

Outside, the Black rat prefers to nest in the hills, like a tree but it also happens to live in burrows in or under vegetation around structures. Inside, it will prefer the heights as the attic. The black rat is neophobia (fear of what is new).

Reproduction:


On average, the female gives birth between 6 and 8 young per litter and can have between 4 and 6 litters per year.
